Self-introduction

My name is Lin JiaWei，I was born in May 2001 in Xiamen, Fujian, China, and began learning the trombone at a young age. I studied under Professor Guo Zheng at Xing Hai Conservatory of Music, teachers Li Qiang and Chen Zhengxin of the Xiamen Philharmonic Orchestra, and David at the Royal Conservatory of Brussels. In 2020, I entered the Orchestral Department of Xing Hai Conservatory of Music with the highest score among out-of-province students nationwide for systematic professional study, and I will enter the Royal Conservatory of Brussels in 2025.

During my studies, I served as principal of the school's wind band and a trombone player in the symphony orchestra. I have performed works such as Nilsson's Symphony No. 4, Bruckner's Symphony No. 7, Tchaikovsky's Symphony No. 4, and Ravel's Piano Concerto.

Instrument Introduction

The trombone is an ancient brass instrument with a history dating back to 15th-century Europe. It evolved from the medieval sackbut and is known for its unique sliding tube that changes pitch. It can play a full chromatic scale and gradually established its place in church music, opera, and symphony, becoming an indispensable instrument in military music and jazz.

 

By the 19th century, the trombone had become a standard instrument in the symphony orchestra, and it was used extensively in works such as Beethoven's Fifth Symphony.v
